The municipal government in Shenzhen has drawn up a development plan to take the southeastern Chinese city's medical industry up to the year 2000. Among other areas, the plan focuses on the production of electromechanical medical devices, says China Medipharm Insights. All medical device manufacturers in Shenzhen must be certified as meeting ISO 9001 by 1999.
