St Jude Medical has announced the US launch of its Livewire TC ablation catheter with universal temperature monitoring. The products are used for the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal arrhythmias in the upper chambers of the heart. St Jude says the new product makes it fully compatible with every commercially available radiofrequency generator for electrophysiology in the US. St Jude estimates the worldwide market for ablation catheters at $56 million and it is growing between 20% and 25% annually.
