Toshiba's latest ultrasound launch, the PowerVision 8000, is optimised for hospitals that need to service several departments. The all-digital platform is for whole-body, radiology and cardiology imaging applications and is used with a series of 12 "plug and play" transducers. The user simply buys a new transducer to extend the appications of the system, rather than relying on hardware overhauls or software upgrades, said Toshiba, which launched the system at the Radiological Society of North America meeting in Chicago last week.
