Premier Laser Systems is set to acquire the 49% share of Ophthalmic Imaging Systems that it does not already own. Ophthalmic shareholders will get 0.8 Premier shares for each Ophthalmic share. Irvine, California-based Premier, which makes medical lasers and fibre-optic systems, has identified significant potential benefits from the merger with Sacramento, California-based Ophthalmic, which manufactures digital imaging enhancement systems and software. The deal is subject to shareholder approval.
