Executive Summary
Technical Chemicals and Products (TCPI) has submitted its total cholesterol home test, HealthCheck, for clearance in the US. The screening test, which will be sold over-the-counter, comprises a test strip that changes colour, which the patient compares with a standardised colour chart. The Pompano Beach, Florida-based company withdrew an earlier test for total cholesterol when the FDA found it had been allowing TCPI to sell the test for home use without formal approval (see Clinica No 798, p 11).
