Executive Summary
Focal is to begin a US multicentre clinical trial of its FocalSeal-S surgical sealant used for sealing cerebrospinal fluid leaks that occur following neurosurgery. The product has already proved promising in a European trial where researchers reported successful results in all 44 patients treated with the sealant following craniotomy or craniectomy procedures (see Clinica No 845, p 14). The Lexington, Massachusetts-based company, which is looking for a distribution partner in the US and Canada, said the product would be distributed elsewhere by Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon.
