Calypte Biomedical has seen its product sales rise from $296,000 to nearly $1 million in the year ended June 30. The Alameda, California-based company, which manufactures HIV diagnostics, has just appointed four exclusive distributors. Chemitech International, of Cairo, will sell the urine HIV-1 test in Egypt, UAE, Oman, Yeman, Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon. Athens-based Balcan-Med will sell to Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania and Bulgaria. Pacific Business Development and Professional Biotech Pvt will have exclusive rights in Korea and India respectively.
