CardioThoracic Systems, which manufactures equipment for minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, has received US FDA clearance for a new way of stopping the heart during these procedures. The CTS Voyager Aortic IntraClusion device stops blood flow to the heart through a single incision. The device performs occlusion, arterial perfusion, cardioplegia delivery and aortic venting in a single system, said the Cupertino, California-based company.
