Surgeons may soon be able to reduce rates of joint revision surgery by using pressure sensors which indicate whether they are placing an implant properly. Incorrectly placed implants can fail prematurely as the misaligned parts grind against each other and can cause debris, leading to a local inflammatory reaction.
