Sabratek has bought LifeWatch, a subsidiary of privately-held Ralin Medical, for an undisclosed amount. LifeWatch is a US provider of telephone arrhythmia monitoring services. Sabratek, of Skokie, Illinois, says the acquisition will give it a portal to the cardiac care market. The Sabratek group of companies provides a "virtual hospital room", that is designed to surround the patient with technology to manage the patient's condition in any point-of-care setting. Buffalo Grove, Illinois-based Ralin plans to use the proceeds from the sale to strengthen its Cardiac Solutions subsidiary, which provides integrated disease management services for the chronically ill.
