Executive Summary
Dexterity Surgical is to have non-exclusive distribution rights to General Surgical Innovations' Spacemaker balloon dissector products in all, or parts of, 28 US states. GSI's products are used for minimally-invasive hernia and stress urinary incontinence repairs. Earlier this year, Cupertino, California-based GSI won a patent infringement case against Guidant subsidiary Origin Medsystems (see Clinica No 847, p 8). An injunction from November 15 1999 will prevent Origin from selling its balloon dissection products.
