The emergence of the internet means that the computerised paper-based patient record will soon be a thing of the past, says the Swedish Institute for Health Services Development (Spri). The systems available to date have been created to resemble paper patient records. However, this is not the most efficient way to transfer information, observes Spri's report, Introducing Computer-based Patient Records.
