Executive Summary
Becton Dickinson has launched three products -the Microtainer Quikheel lancet, a blood-sampling device for premature infants, neonates and babies; the Vacutainer Eclipse blood collection needle; and the Vacutainer plastic-coated micro-hematocrit capillary tubes. Both the Quikheel and the Eclipse incorporate safety devices so the healthcare worker is not exposed to the blade or needle. The plastic coating on hematocrit tubes has a very high tensile strength which prevents them from breaking.
