Electroscope has launched its suction-irrigation electrodes (SIE), which incorporate the company's active electrode monitoring (AEM) technology, for use in laparoscopic electrosurgery. All of the Boulder, Colorado-based company's laparoscopic instruments, including scissors, graspers and dissectors, now include the AEM technology. The technology prevents injuries caused by stray monopolar electrosurgical energy, by continuously monitoring the level of electrosurgical current and interrupting the power should a dangerous level of leakage occur.
