Merit Medical Systems has received US FDA 510(k) clearance for its new line of vessel-sizing catheters, which are used to establish the size of stent or vena cava filter to be used in interventional procedures. The catheters have either two, 11 or 20 platinum bands, depending on the need and the area to be measured. The demand for these devices has increased following the recent approval by the FDA of new endovascular devices such as stent grafts, said the South Jordan, Utah-based company.
