Market rumours suggest Smith & Nephew will sell its consumer division

There is increasing market speculation that Smith & Nephew plans to divest its consumer division, in order to focus on its three core businesses - orthopaedics, woundcare and endoscopy. There are rumours that the UK company has instructed Lazards, its investment banker, to assist with a sale. The expected price for the division is around £200 million ($320 million).
