Lipoprint promises faster and targeted cholesterol test

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Quantimetrix has developed what could become the first doctor's office test for measuring subfractions of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) - often referred to as "bad" cholesterol. The Lipoprint system, which is already available for use in US laboratories and hospitals under the country's CLIA guidelines, may provide a better means of identifying and managing cardiac disease than traditional tests that only measure total LDL cholesterol, claimed the Redondo Beach, California company.
