Executive Summary
Using an oesophageal Doppler monitor to assess fluid levels in patients who have undergone cardiac surgery reduces intensive care stay from 2.6 to 1.9 days and overall hospital stay by 19%. These were the interim findings from the first 39 patients participating in an ongoing study reported at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine meeting in Rome, Italy, last month.
