The US FDA has cleared for sale Baxter Healthcare's automated peritoneal dialysis system for use in paediatric patients at home. The HomeChoice Pediatric system is designed to meet the special needs of young patients with end-stage renal disease, an advanced stage of chronic kidney disease that affects more than 5,000 children and adolescents in the US, says the firm. The system will be available in the US early 2002 next year.
