Executive Summary
The UK government is in "active negotiations" with UK private health group BUPA Hospitals over the creation and management of the National Health Service's first so-called "fast-track" diagnostic and treatment centre (DTC). The creation of 20 DTCs by 2004 was announced in the NHS plan in July 2000 (see Clinica No 919, pp 1-2).
