This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The 180 companies belonging to the German medical devices industry association (BVMed) recorded a rise in turnover of 6.3% to DM3.8 billion ($1.7 billion) for the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2000. Speaking at a press conference in Dusseldorf in the run-up to Medica, the world's largest medical device exhibition, BVMed deputy chairman Volker Wagner, indicated that the industry's half year turnover was satisfactory, but "not as desirable as it could be".
