Medtronic, Guidant and St Jude report device problems

Three of the world's top manufacturers of implantable cardiac devices reported problems with one of their products last week. Small numbers of Guidant's Prizm cardioverter defibrillator, Medtronic's Gem II defibrillator and St Jude's Affinity pacemaker were all reported to be faulty.
