Executive Summary
The UK Medical Devices Agency has issued a hazard notice to health authorities and trusts concerning an incident in which a Picker Apollo CTM Mark One ceiling mounted suspension for X-ray tubes suddenly dropped. While the agency said this had the "potential for serious injury to the patient or operator" and had already issued previous warnings to the radiology community, it added that Picker had been aware of the problem and had itself issued preventative maintenance as far back as 1992.
