SonoSite, of Bothell, Washington, has received clearance from the US FDA to market its hand-held echocardiography device, SonoHeart. The 2.5kg device features 2-D and directional colour power Doppler images and can be used to determine left ventricular function, chamber size, wall thickness and valve regurgitation, among other applications.
