Canadian firm SignalGene says its has made an important discovery in the area of breast cancer genetics that could open new avenues for the development of predictive tests and preventative therapies for the disease. The Montreal, Quebec company has identified a gene that protects women against breast cancer. The discovery is described in Cancer Research (August 1).
