The Spanish ministry of science and technology has posted on its website (www.mcyt.es) a fiscal incentives guide, as part of its drive to promote much-needed R&D investment. The guide offers practical advice, contacts and detailed procedural information on the legislation. In April, the government announced that it is considering allocating part of its flagship R&D programme (PROFIT), worth Pta40.6 billion ($220 million) in 2000, specifically to medical device technology (see Clinica No 955, p 1).
