General Electric Medical Systems buys Austrian ultrasound company for $84 million

General Electric Medical Systems (GEMS) is buying 65% of the shares in Kretztechnik, an Austrian ultrasound company, from its South Korean parent company, Medison. GEMS will pay around 110 Korean won ($84 million). The Korean company plans to use the money to reduce its short-term debt.
