The US FDA has approved for sale Staar Surgical's implantable device for correcting open-angle glaucoma. The AquaFlow collagen glaucoma drainage device, which is designed to lower the intraocular pressure often associated with glaucoma, provides a safer and less-invasive alternative to conventional surgery, says the Monrovia, California firm. In a separate announcement, Staar says it has gained the go-ahead in Canada to market its implantable contact lens for correcting hyperopia and myopia.
