Vascular Solutions to pay St Jude royalties on Duett

St Jude Medical has prevailed in patent litigation in the puncture closure market as the much smaller company Vascular Solutions has settled, agreeing to pay a royalty of 2.5% of net sales of its Duett sealing device. The royalty will be paid up to an undisclosed maximum amount. Vascular will take an extra charge of $350,000 in the quarter for royalty on sales of the device since 1998.
