The Korean Health Ministry (MOHW) reports that cancer patients registering with the Central Cancer Registration Office increased by 7.1% in 1999, to 82,300 cases. Males accounted for almost 47,000 cases, says a report in Pharma Koreana. Stomach cancer incidence was highest, at some 11,000 cases, followed by liver and lung cancer. By next year, lung will have overtaken liver as the second most serious form of cancer in terms of incidence in the Korean population.
