Cryo-Cell International, a US autologous umbilical cord cell bank, can expect major growth in Europe, the company's European chief operating officer Kees Kleinbloesem told the group's AGM last week. The centrepiece of recent successes has been a deal to open an autologous cord blood bank in Milan jointly with the Vatican-owned San Raphaelo Hospital in Milan. The Vatican has previously stated it support for autologous and/or clinical use of stem cells from umbilical cord blood, while being opposed to foetal or embryonic stem cells. Cryo-Cell is headquartered in Clearwater, Florida.
