Executive Summary
The US National Cancer Institute is funding to the tune of $25 million a multicentre, 49,500-patient study to compare the value of digital mammography with that of conventional film-based mammography. The American College of Radiology Imaging Network study, claimed to be the first major trial to compare the two methods, will be conducted at 19 institutions in the US and Canada.
