Nearly three-quarters of the 3,700 French hospitals and clinics have begun the process of being accredited by the national healthcare accreditation and evaluation agency. According to the Quotidien du Medecin, some 30 healthcare facilities have already received official acknowledgement of the services they offer. The deadline for enrolling in the evaluation was April 24 and all facilities are due to be assessed by 2006.
