Executive Summary
Medical device and in vitro diagnostics sales in 2000 totalled E182.2 billion ($171.6 billion), according to data presented by EUCOMED, the European medical device industry association, to European Commissioner Erkki Liikanen in April (see Clinica No 954, p 3). The rest of the world figure should have read E38.2 billion. The rest of the market was divided as follows: Europe, E47.8 billion; the US, E68.6 billion; and Japan, E27.6 billion.
