CDU (Germany's Christian Democrats) reveals private healthcare contributions plans:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Germany's Christian Democrats (CDU) have revealed plans to ask employers to pay staff contributions to private health insurance. In a report published in the German press, the CDU also said it would consider combining payments made to the statutory sickness funds and contributions set aside for elderly and handicapped care. The party's strategy paper also demands the building up of capital reserves to help sustain levels in preparation for the demographic changes ahead and the ageing population. The CDU has also announced its intention to remove the burden of payment for maternity leave and death-in-service benefit from the sickness and pension funds. These would then be financed through direct taxation.
