Executive Summary

The promised installation of 85 new MRI systems in France is soon to become reality. The French national committee for healthcare management has authorised 17 systems for the Ile-de-France area, nine for the Rhone-Alpes region, 7 for Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur and six for Nord-Pas de Calais. Further installations are anticipated as the year progresses. Although the French government has authorised 85 new MRI systems, a recent report by the French medical data research group, Sanesco, claims that some 300 additional MRI units were needed.
