Integra LifeSciences has received US FDA 510(k) marketing clearance for its advanced intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring and drainage catheter. The fibre optic-based Ventrix true tech catheter is designed to tunnel away from the brain, a technique used previously only in fluid-filled ICP monitoring systems, says the Plainsboro, New Jersey company. The new product eliminates the levelling and de-bubbling associated with the fluid-filled systems, says Integra, which launched the device last week.
