IoM (Institute of Medicine) urges accreditation for medical researchers

Executive Summary

The Institute of Medicine (IoM) has recommended an accreditation programme for medical researchers as a way of protecting volunteer participants in clinical trials. Such a programme would certify that researchers meet certain performance standards, said the IoM in a report drawn up by a committee of experts led by Daniel Federman, the senior dean for clinical teaching and professor of medicine and medical education at Harvard Medical School.
