Japanese domestic manufacture of medical devices decreased by 1.3% to ¥,488 billion ($14,171 million) in 1999. Diagnostic imaging systems was the leading product group, accounting for Yen298 billion (20.0%) of the total, reports Clinica's Japanese correspondent. Operating equipment and supplies was the second-largest product group, accounting for Yen194 billion (13.1%) of the total.
