Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (OCD) has formed a research collaboration with Caprion Pharmaceuticals to develop a blood test for new variant Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease (vCJD). OCD, of Raritan, New Jersey, has taken a option to license Caprion's prion technologies, including the company's panel of monoclonal antibodies for detecting a structural epitope unique to vCJD. A spokesman from Caprion told Clinica that data supporting the antibodies' accuracy are due to be published in a peer review journal.
