The Swedish Medical Products Agency (Lakemedelsverket) will assume responsibility from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) on September 1 for ensuring that device manufacturers and their products comply with quality assurance regulations (see Clinica No 929, p 3). The Socialstyrelsen will continue to supervise the use of medical devices within the health system.
