Executive Summary
St Jude Medical has CE-marked for sale in Europe the final component of its Genesis ventricular resynchronisation system for treating congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. The Alliance catheter-based delivery system is designed to facilitate the implantation of a lead into the left side of the heart. A European launch of the product will begin immediately, says St Paul, Minnesota-based St Jude, which initiated a limited launch of the Genesis system in mid-2000 based on an earlier version of the Alliance device.
