Spacelabs' call to see Cardiac cash ends takeover

Spacelabs Medical, which late last year was facing a hostile takeover from the much smaller Cardiac Sciences says that when asked, the bidder could not provide evidence that it had access to the funds required for the deal. However, Cardiac is claiming that a lack of response from the Spacelabs board to its offer prompted Cardiac to withdraw from what promised to be an acrimonious boardroom battle.
