STS Biopolymers plans to buy Dutch medical coating company, MCTec, from Belden Wire & Cable and Biomat. Henrietta, New York-based STS, which develops polymer-based coatings, says the acquisition will greatly broaden its range of coated guidewires and PTCA catheters, as well as bringing it access to the European market. The $1.7 million turnover company was formed in 1999 to commercialise medical applications for a high-speed coating technology.
