The US Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) has appointed Mark Leahey as executive director, replacing Larry Holden. Mr Leahey, formerly the association's director of federal affairs, will concentrate on "ensuring manufacturers have open access to the hospital marketplace by challenging the exclusionary and anti-competitive nature of the GPOs", said board chairman Paul Touhey. He will also work on the implementation of the Medical Device User Fee & Modernisation Act, among other things.
