This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Lumiphore has licensed two patents covering the use of luminescent/fluorescent lanthanide complexes in a variety of applications including for clinical diagnostics and diagnostic imaging. The lanthanide technology, which was developed at the University of California, Berkeley, offers advantages over current fluorescent systems and can increase assay sensitivities by up to 150 times, says Lumiphore. Additionally, the lanthanide reagents allow mutiplex testing and can be analysed using existing equipment, says the Redwood City, California firm.
