Executive Summary

The number of PTCA procedures carried out in the Nordic countries has been increasing dramatically over since 1995. In Sweden alone 8,350 procedures were carried out in 2000, an increase of 2,200 compared with 1999. But proportionally Norway leads the field in the region for the number of PTCA procedures per year. In 2,000 it carried out 117 PTCA procedures per 100,000 inhabitants. During the same year, Sweden undertook 94, Denmark 92 and Finland only 55.
