Medicare has agreed to cover hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to treat serious diabetic ulcers of the lower extremities. The therapy uses a hyperbaric chamber where patients receive 100% oxygen at 2-2.5 times greater than sea-level atmospheric pressure.
