UK cancer group urges government to protect funding pledges

Renewed concerns about how funding allocated centrally to cancer services does not always reach its intended target, but may be used to meet other budgetary shortfalls, have led Cancer Research UK to call for measures to guarantee that these funds are protected. Its calls come in the wake of a highly critical report by the Audit Commission into the age and inefficient use of radiology equipment in the NHS.
