Executive Summary
The ongoing reinforcement of Mexico's dengue testing capacity has proved successful in helping to limit the number of deaths from the haemorrhagic form of the disease through prompt diagnosis. So said the health ministry, after reporting a fourth death from the disease so far this year, out of a total of over 3,000 cases - including almost 400 of the haemorrhagic form. The re-equipping of Mexico's laboratories is the responsibility of the national diagnostics and epidemiology institute, Instituto de Diagnostico y Referencia Epidemiologicos.
